 The Mines Family, Geraldine, Kathryn, Janice, and Sharon Mines, have been breeding quality Labrador Retrievers since 1974.  Our breeding program is now into the 8th generation.  It is our goal at Rockycreek to breed versatile Labradors.  We have produced winners at both all-breed and specialty shows, hunt tests, and obedience trials as well as wonderful companions and reliable hunting dogs.

Gerie (Mom) Mines resides in West Milford, New Jersey and part time in Gloucester, North Carolina.  She takes care of the older dogs and the ones not currently being campaigned for their championships, hunt test titles, or obedience titles.  To keep them in condition, they have a 5 acre fenced in area with their own pond for swimming and frog hunting.  They all take turns being house dogs.

Janice owns and operates Otway House Bed & Breakfast in Beaufort, North Carolina.  She whelps and cares for the litters and does most of the paperwork and record keeping.  Her website is www.otwayhouse.com.

We CERF the eyes yearly, and OFA the hips and elbows on all of our breeding stock before breeding to ensure that we utilize only the soundest, healthiest, quality animals available.  We breed our females to males that have also passed strict criteria to help ensure that we are passing on only healthy, quality puppies and breeding stock.

While we At Rockycreek are breeding for competition quality stock, it also is advantageous to our companion puppy buyers, as we are breeding for an all-round Labrador that not only is good looking enough to be competitive in the show ring, but is also easily trained for hunting and obedience competitions.  Therefore, temperament is very important to us since it lays the foundation of all that we are trying to accomplish with our Labradors.
